-occupied during Russia's Wars > Turkish War of Succession (1841-4)

-due to "German perfidy"

-then in decades that followed developed as a port

1898-1904: Constantine II

-plans to flee here after Young Russian Revolution (1902-8)

-but comes to naught after executed

-officers continue to run Jever

1904-1905: Interregnum

-essentially run by military in this era

-in 1905 seek to regroup for Tsarist effort and establish this as headquarters for effort

-with most Romanovs dead, declare Alexander's (and Constantine I's) niece empress

1905-1911: Xenia

-a quite old woman

-daughter of this guy

-moved to Hanover to marry alt-version of this guy a long time ago

-that guy having been son of British emigre and living very different life

-successfully wooed her

-but upon being declared empress decides to convert to Orthodoxy again

-and in 1906 moves along with son

-leaves administration in hands of military

-dies in 1911 at age of 78

1911-1923: George I

-comes to throne at age of 43

-doesn't even speak very good Russian but still has the blood
